Exempt pH Neutralization Systems Still Need Monitoring

257 CMR 2.00, Certification of Operators of Wastewater Treatment Facilities, establishes the requirements for evaluation and certification of operators of wastewater treatment facilities. Facilities that discharge industrial wastewater through a pH neutralization system may fall under this regulation, which is enforced by the MA Department of Environmental Protection.

Employees participating in emergency response are required to be trained based on the duties and function they would serve in an emergency response situation.

On August 5, 2015, OSHA announced a proposed rule that would lower the permissible exposure limit for beryllium and lower workplace exposure to beryllium and beryllium compounds. The current PEL for beryllium is 2.0 micrograms per cubic meter of air, and was established by the Atomic Energy Commission in 1948 and adopted by OSHA in 1971.
